Technoblade, Popular Minecraft Creator, Dies from Cancer at 23

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Technoblade, a top YouTube creator who is a specialist in Minecraft let's-play videos was killed just one year after he announced a cancer diagnosis according to the family statement. He was 23.



In a touching YouTube video that was posted on Technoblade's channel the YouTuber's dad announced that his son had passed away. "He was the most wonderful kid anyone could ever wish for," his father said. "I really miss Technoblade."



The video that was uploaded on Thursday, titled "so long geeks," included a posthumous message from the creator to his fans. The message was read by his father. "Hello everyone, Technoblade here. Minecraft Servers Technoblade's message revealed his real name was Alex. "Thank you to all who have supported my content throughout the years. I believe Technoblade would be my choice if I had another hundred lives. They were the most joyous years of my life.



On Technoblade's store online the message reads "In the memory of his passing, a portion of proceeds from all online orders will be donated to a wonderful organization called curesarcoma.org," linking to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.



Technoblade, whose online avatar was a crowned King Pig, currently has 10.8 million users on his YouTube channel. "I play video games too much. I might not be the greatest but I do have hot elbows," his YouTube bio reads.



The video was released on Thursday, with the following statement: "We, the Technoblade family, wanted you all know how much he loved and respected his followers. Technoblade was always seeking ways to please and reward his fans from the beginning. He managed to retain his charming humility despite his accomplishments and maintain a charming balance between his confidence and his self-deprecating humor. We ask that you honor his desire to keep his identity secret and to prevent him from becoming famous.



The statement continued, "This year has been difficult for our son as we battled stage four cancer." But he didn't complain and continued to use his famously strategic mind to overcome what he knew were almost impossible odds. My son's courage on this path was a shining example to all of us who were fortunate enough to walk it with. We are thankful that you shared his journey with us as he did the work he was passionate about for his beloved fans.



According to his father, Technoblade composed his final message to his fans around eight hours prior to his death. "I do not think he said everything he wanted to say, but I think he was able to get the most important points across," his father said.



Technoblade disclosed his cancer diagnosis in August 2021. He said he experienced pain in his right arm since the beginning of August. At first, he believed it was due to repetitive stress injuries caused by gaming. After a few days the shoulder was swelling and thought that he might have a fractured bone. After he went to the hospital and was diagnosed with cancer.
