While Google is working on the completion of Android 14, new details have emerged about a practical feature inspired by Samsung devices. Google is adapting Android 14 to better suit the new Pixel devices.
Android 14 combines two apps Google has introduced two important products, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, which come with larger displays. Accordingly, Google wants to optimize Android 14 so that you can do more simultaneously. A new feature is coming with the next version of Android. You can combine two apps, which will be displayed as a single app icon on your home screen and will launch simultaneously in multitasking mode when you touch the icon (Source: 9to5Google).
The introduction of such a feature makes sense not only for Pixel phones but especially for Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. For example, you can combine WhatsApp and YouTube, allowing you to chat with your friends or family while watching videos. On a large screen, this feature is a real blessing as you no longer have to manually activate the multitasking mode.
However, the feature is not entirely new. According to SamMobile, Samsung already integrated it back in 2017. You have long been able to combine and launch two apps simultaneously on Samsung devices. I have frequently used this feature on my Samsung tablet, so I would also make use of it on the upcoming Pixel Tablet with Android 14.
When will Android 14 be released?
Google has released the first public beta version of Android 14. You can already try out the new version on smartphones from manufacturers like Xiaomi and Co. According to the schedule, the development will still take a while. Android 14 will not be completely finished and distributed for the Pixel devices until fall.
